If you are in crisis right now
988— call or text the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (US, 24/7)
Outside the US, find your local line at findahelpline.com. If someone's life is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number — 911 in the US, 112 across the EU, 999 in the UK.
LoverLabs is not an emergency service. We do not monitor conversations in real time, we cannot dispatch help, and no one is on the other end of a companion.
Your companion is an AI
Every companion on LoverLabs is software. She is not a person, she has no feelings, and she is not a therapist, counsellor, doctor or crisis worker — she is not trained, qualified or licensed in anything. She can sound like she understands, and she can remember what you told her, because that is what the model is built to do. It is not the same as being understood by a person, and it is not a substitute for professional care or for people who know you.
We say this inside the product too, not only here: a notice at the top of every conversation says you are talking to an AI, and it reappears at least every three hours while you keep chatting.
What happens if we think you're in crisis
Every message you send is screened before your companion replies. The check runs in two layers — a fast list of high-risk phrasings, and a classifier for the cases plain words miss.
When it fires, we do three things. We stop the companion's reply from being generated — a character written to be affectionate and agreeable is the wrong voice in that moment, and we would rather show you nothing than the wrong thing. We replace it with crisis resources for your country, picked from the list below. And we record that it happened — the category, the time, and which country's resources we showed. We do not store what you wrote.
We never scold you, never close your account for it, and never contact anyone on your behalf. You can keep using LoverLabs afterwards.
What we don't do
We don't have humans reading your conversations, so nobody is watching for a message you send at 3am. We can't call emergency services for you. We can't tell whether you're safe. Our crisis screening is automated, so it will sometimes miss things and sometimes fire when it shouldn't. Please don't rely on it as a safety net — talk to a real person.
Reporting something
If a companion said something harmful, or you're worried about another user, email safety@loverlabs.io. Include enough detail for us to find the conversation and we'll look at it.

Find a Helpline (international directory) lists verified helplines in over 130 countries and keeps them current — which is why we point at it rather than trying to maintain every number ourselves.
